DNS (Diploma in Nautical Science) is a one year residential diploma course leading to 3 year B.Sc. Nautical Science after 18 months of sea service and also leading to 2nd Mate Foreign going Certificate of Competency (CoC) awarded by the Ministry of Shipping, Government of India, enabling the cadets to become Navigating officers on board Merchant Navy Ships anywhere in the world.
This is a 3-year full-time residential program approved by the Directorate General of Shipping, Ministry of Shipping (Government of India). It covers all important topics related to maritime education and Nautical Science. The program focuses on training and preparing eligible students for becoming Deck Officers and imparts learning in Nautical Technology, with more attention to practical skill development.
The course focuses on technical aspects related to Marine Engineering. The curriculum for this course consists of concepts and processes involved in the manufacture, designing and operation of ship machinery and engines.
In B. Tech. Marine Engineering course, the students are educated in various methods and technologies used in maintenance and construction of harbors, ships etc. It mostly deals with ship mechanism and other sea structures, ships and vehicles.
Electro Technical Officers are accountable for checking all electronic and electrical equipment on ship to ensure the operational safety and competency of the ship.ese officers work in co-operation with officers from both departments i.e. Deck and Engine for assistance related to electrical and hydraulic technology.
